This next picture is from a summer vacation we took back to our hometown in Mexico. I'm with my great-grandpa Abuelito Francisco. He passed away a couple of years after this picture was taken. I don't remember much about him, other than that he was always smoking cigarettes just like the Marlboro Man.

I'm finally walking. I'm not sure if these are my first steps, but I like to think that they were. It's amazing to look back and see how much I've grown and changed. I love looking at all of these older pictures and seeing the different outfits I was wearing. I love clothes now and I think that passion is rooted somewhere here.

This was one of my favorite traditions growing up. After you blow out the candles everyone around you starts to chant "que le muerda." They're telling you to take a bite out of the cake and when you go to take the bite, someone around you pushes your face into the cake. I love this picture because it's my first time being exposed to this tradition and I look pissed. Maybe this is the reason I don't like cake. This tradition went on through elementary school and can't wait to do it with my kids.
