I was pumped. Me and [Luis](https://davidking.gitbook.io/the-story-of-my-life./the-old/page-1#3.-my-cousins) going on a bros trip to Houston to see some of our favorite artists. We thought the setlist was insane. The day started off crazy. People rushed outside of the stages knocking down metal gates. I could also see the crazy long lines starting to form where people were going to wait hours to get some merch. The Thrills stage was the one with all of the openers. The one with everyone in the video. The other stage was where Travis was going to perform. From the start, there were people waiting by Travis's stage just in case he came out early and for front-row seats during the concert. I and Luis went to the stage with all of the openers. The energy was electric and the performers were amazing. The last performer was SZA and we agreed to head over to the main stage quickly so we could have a good view.

Unsurprisingly, the majority of the 50,000+ people there had the same idea. It started to get really packed really quickly. People kept trying to push and force themselves to the front even though people had literally been saving their spots for the entire day. It still wasn't bad at this point, and it didn't get bad until Travis came out. I remember feeling so cramped and there were times when my feet weren't touching the ground because I was being squeezed so tightly that I was up in the air. This went on for a couple of songs until Travis went to play 90210. He stopped the show and had people open up to let an emergency golf cart take someone out from the moshpit. This was happening on the other side of the stage. While he was helping that person. A group of people about 100 feet behind us started yelling for help and they were trying to get Travis' attention. I didn't think much of it because I had seen people pass out all day from drinking and dehydration and I thought that was what had happened. Travis didn't hear them and the show went on. He even brought Drake out which was awesome but made the crowd even crazier. After the performance ended, we were starting to walk out and I saw an emergency golf cart with someone on it. The guy's arms were hanging off the cart and there was an EMT performing CPR on him. That was the first moment I realized how bad it was. We went back to the hotel and saw on the news that 8 people had died and a couple more were in critical condition. It was surreal because Luis and I were in the trenches during all of this and the people behind us screaming for help were yelling because someone was dead in front of them. They ended up canceling day two, but the damage was already done. We were just thankful to be alive.
