This was a family trip to a new place for my Dad's birthday. We got to go to Punta Cana in the Dominican and it was an absolutely beautiful place. We stayed at a hotel on the beach and enjoyed the warm weather since it was winter back home. I also got to meet up with one of my college friends who were back home for winter break.

After my winter break trip to the Dominican, it was time for indoor track to start back up. The season flew by and before I knew it, I was back at the indoor nationals meet. The meet got off to a great start with a PR in the 60m dash. The long jump was next and I jumped a solid mark to keep in at the top. The next event was the shot put. I knew I was going to lose points here, but another PR kept me in great shape. Then it was time for the high jump one of my favorite events. I jumped 6'7 which wasn't a PR, but a great mark to jump in the multi. That ended day one and I was in a prime position to finish as an All-American. The next day started off with another bang. I ran the fastest hurdle race of my life hitting another PR. The next event was one I knew I was going to lose points. The Pole Vault. I ended up vaulting right around my PR which kept me in a great spot going into the last event. The 1000m. The event I dreaded the most. However, right now wasn't the time to be dreading it. I was going to have to go for broke, so that's exactly what I did. From the gun, I took off and decided to lead the pack. I stayed in first place for the first 700m until the fatigue hit. I got to the final straightaway and knew I was going to hit another massive PR. After the race finished I looked at my time and knew I had taken third place. I let out a scream filled with pain, fatigue, and joy as my coach gave me a hug. That was one of the best days of my life. In two years I went from not knowing anything about the multi-events to being an All-American. I put in so much time and effort that seeing it pay off was extremely rewarding.

These girls have been friends in my group since middle school. This was my first outdoor meet of the year and they came to watch. The night before they came out with me and the guys and we went bar hopping. It made for a rough morning, but I had a solid meet thanks to some support from them. We ran it back for round two of bar hopping this night two. It was a fun weekend for sure.
