This was one of my favorite track & field competitions ever. It was our District track meet. So this was the one meet where I was able to qualify for the state meet. I was competing in both the high jump and the long jump. The high Jump started earlier than the long jump, and I knew if I stayed in the competition long enough it would interfere with the long jump. And that's exactly what happened. I was high jumping when someone came over and told me it was my turn to long jump. I asked them to put me at the bottom of the jump order, but they had already gone through everyone else. So I cleared the bar in the high jump and rolled off the mat and walked to the long jump runway. I caught my breath and on my first attempt, I jumped the auto-qualifying mark. I felt like such a badass. I qualified for two events within the span of a couple of minutes.
